Gwanda State University (GSU) continued to demonstrate leadership in digital safety and responsible information management when its Deputy Librarian, Mr. Phillip Ndhlovu, delivered a compelling presentation on 26 November 2025 to an audience of about 300 participants at a POTRAZ awareness workshop on the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act (2021).

Presenting on “The Role of University Libraries in Data Protection and Digital Safety,” Mr. Ndhlovu highlighted how the GSU Library protects personal and research data through secure systems such as OpenAthens, which anonymises login details; KOHA, which restricts access to personal borrowing records; and DSpace, which provides embargoes and restricted access for sensitive research submissions.
