GSU Strengthens Community Engagement Through Book Donation






Gwanda State University (GSU) on 26 November 2025 donated an array of library books to several institutions in Filabusi, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening education and supporting community development. The beneficiaries of this initiative include Filabusi High School, Filabusi District Hospital, Marvel Primary School, Filabusi Government Primary School, and Filabusi Prison.
The donation forms part of the University’s ongoing community engagement efforts aimed at promoting access to knowledge, improving literacy, and fostering lifelong learning in communities surrounding the institution. As part of its broader mandate, GSU is dedicated to establishing and reviving libraries in various institutions to ensure that learners, patients, inmates, and staff have access to essential information resources.
Representatives from the receiving institutions expressed deep gratitude to GSU, noting that the materials will greatly enhance teaching, learning, and information access. They also highlighted their eagerness to continue collaborating with the University on future initiatives that uplift and empower the community.
Through such outreach programmes, Gwanda State University continues to demonstrate that its impact extends beyond academia, contributing meaningfully to the development and well-being of communities in Matabeleland South and beyond.
On the 27th of November 2025 ,the GSU team visited Dekezi and Siwazi High Schools at Insiza District where the University handed over diverse literature. A series of career guidance sessions were also conducted at the schools. Students benefited from the initiative as it will enhance their learning and career advancement. Institutions of higher learning like Gwanda State University are expected to nurture and support upcoming young students before transitioning to University education.
